We teach reading in school in a variety of ways, in our English lessons we focus on one text as a class and link this to both reading and writing. We have group reading sessions, where children are grouped according to their needs and sessions focus on teaching the all skills of reading (decoding and comprehension). Children are also read individually where appropriate - mainly in Key Stage One and the Early Years.
We encourage all children to read at home. Below are questions that we like the children to think about when they are reading, children can record the answers to these in their reading records. We also promote a love of reading and encourage parents to read to their children and share books with them at all stages and ages.
