Summer term Week 1

In This Section

Thursday 23rd April update

Good morning Year 5,

I hope you're all managing to have a good balance of work and other activities. Your home learning is carrying on with the timetable given at the start of the week. I just wanted to add a few things...

  • I'd love to know how you're finding this new style of home learning, with the White Rose and BBC links. Please do email me to tell me how you're getting on, as you can help decide whether future weeks will continue like this, change back to the separate activities we were posting each day, or something else!
  • The link to the White Rose website may have confused some of you as to which work you should be doing. We'd intended starting at their 'Week 1' (not what's listed as Summer Term - Week 1 (w/c 20 April) and opens up when you view the website) as it was the start of a new unit in Maths! I've seen a mix of work already so don't worry whichever you've done - carry on where you've got to and I'll review it for next week. If you're finding it tricky though, have a look back as you may find work in the previous weeks on the website that helps you.
  • Do you have any nominations for Celebration Assembly this week? (Friendship Friday or Rate my Plate)

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Mrs Jones x

Welcome Back!

Good morning Year 5,

Welcome back to a new term and some more home/distance learning! We hope you all had a lovely Easter and that you managed to change up your routine and find some fun activities to do!

We’ve changed things a little bit for the next couple of weeks so let us know what you think. We have set you a project that you can see in the document below. This should last you 2 weeks, so please take your time on it! We have also included a timetable (below) that has links to learning. There is some learning for Maths, English and other subjects for each day. If you can’t access these for any reason, please choose some learning from the ‘Documents’ section, continue with any work that was sent home from school or if you have your own learning at home, that’s great too!

Please remember that learning at the moment is a bit different to how it normally is at school and these are just suggestions. With your grown ups at home, you can choose what you want to do and how much of it you do; learning involves lots of things like baking, gardening and helping to make dinner!

I am now officially on maternity leave (still no baby yet - I will let you know when he/she arrives!) so will not be around to answer your emails from now on. Mrs Jones will check her emails at the end of each day on Mon-Wed this week but won't be contactable during the day like she is on a Thursday and Friday. You can also email Miss Jeal if you really need help.

Well done to you all for coping so well with a tricky situation and I wish you the best of luck for the remainder of the year. I can't wait to hear how you're all getting on!

Enjoy your home learning and keep smiling!

Mrs Howard x
